SIP Reaffirms Its Commitment to Grid Resilience With Additional Investment in OhmConnect.

This summer, record heat waves are expected to converge with insufficient energy supplies, increasing the likelihood of blackouts. Our already-fragile grid is set to be further stressed, perhaps cripplingly so.
A recent study from the North American Electric Reliability Corp., which ensures reliable power across North America, found that several parts of the United States are susceptible to unplanned outages over the next decade, due to growing demand and inadequate generation capacity.
But in California, OhmConnect, Inc. — the leading provider of residential energy flexibility — has helped hundreds of thousands of households take 61,700 appliances offline in the past year, powering down for a total of over 250,000 hours. That kind of strategic reduction alleviates pressure on the grid and ensures power stays flowing even at moments of peak demand. OhmConnect has already expanded to Texas and New York and continues to bring its technology to additional markets.
Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners (SIP), through its innovation platform Resilia, is committed to making electrical grids across the country more distributed, dynamic, and transactional — and we are proud to be OhmConnect’s largest backer. With its recently completed $55 million Series D fundraising round, OhmConnect is bringing in new strategic partners, each with expertise in specific sets of capabilities that will help OhmConnect to grow.
SunPower, a leading provider of home and commercial solar, will market OhmConnect to new and existing solar customers — 300,000 in California alone. Together, the two companies will develop a battery storage offering and associated services.
Carrier, the leading heating and cooling solutions provider, will provide OhmConnect with access to Carrier APIs to directly load-manage Carrier thermostats and HVAC systems. Carrier’s network of dealers, in turn, will market OhmConnect to their users.
Telus, a leading Canadian telecom provider, will integrate OhmConnect into product experiences, including Telus’ security and subscription offerings. Telus will be a key partner in OhmConnect’s expansion into Canada.
As a co-lead of the fundraising round, SIP is doubling down on its belief that novel energy solutions like OhmConnect are critical to helping make the grid more resilient.
This funding round is a powerful validation of OhmConnect’s differentiated technology. And with these new strategic partners, OhmConnect is poised to build on its momentum to further cement its role as the leader in residential energy flexibility.
